Gratitude from a non-shopper

Australians are expected to spend up to $2.5 billion – yes billion! – today scrambling for Boxing Day bargains, news reports say.

Between 26 December 2015 and 15 January 2016, the Retail Council predicts Australians will spend almost $21 billion nationwide.

I’m not a shopper. I never have been. I buy what I need or I make do.

I’d sooner swim in the nearby dam to cool off than wander the air conditioned shopping mall.

I don’t buy advertising hype.

And I just don’t get the obsession to have the newest/ fastest/greatest/swankiest anything.

Perhaps I have a defective gene?

I am most grateful for presence rather than presents, albeit hand-made, home-made full-of-thought-or-whimsy gifts are treasured.

My neighbours call these ‘reinbeer’ 🙂

Today I give a big shout-out of THANKS to the shoppers of the world for keeping the economy alive and with it jobs. Happy Boxing Day!

Testimonial

"Heather Joy’s laughter yoga session was the most fun I’ve had at work in a long time! It was great to do it as a group – a team building exercise in itself. I definitely got a dose of therapy and endorphins, a workout for my lungs, and came away with a new tool to de-stress at the end of a day."
